Vast is an open source web framework extending the responsive web to large-scale display systems. The framework includes a collection of JavaScript and CSS tools that support the development of web-based content that accommodate for the additional concerns when developing for large-scale display systems, such as unique display size and aspect, content fit, and viewing distance.
The goal of this framework is to support the scalability and dissemination of web-based immersive content created through the Immersive Scholar project and to democratize the creation of scholarly digital media for immersive environments.
The Vast framework is available through the Immersive Scholar GitHub Organization (see the Vast repository).
Vast was developed and is maintained at the NC State University Libraries in coordination with Lucas Swick.
